My congregation is new, and one of the biggest challenges I face is music. I have always noticed that members often lack confidence to sing, and it can disrupt the flow of worship when some are trying and others are holding back. Music is also my area of least confidence, and I sometimes end up winging it in more of a spoken-word style.
As we move toward our first service, I am hoping to identify someone who feels confident enough to help lead or set the tone for the singing. Even one strong voice can give everyone else the confidence to join in and grow. Until then, I know this is an area where I will need patience, creativity, and trust that the Spirit will still move, whether in song or in silence.
