My church is a very small congregation ( anywhere between 20 and 30) in a fairly small but growing community . It's a very old church built in 1882 right in the center of town. the woodwork and stained glass gives it a sort of majesty. Parishioners are, for the most part, elderly. This church was founded by rich families, some of which had a great deal to do with with growing the town and commerce in it's early days. Because of this I am getting a great deal of push back when it comes to trying to bring any change I feel could grow the church.
Like others have pointed out the messages are safe ones. No boat rocking here. It won't be tolerated. We lost 2 parishioners simply by acknowledging we were on indigenous land. And pointing out that the doors will be closing if nothing is done to change that obvious destiny, it is simply ignored.
