Prayer

·  How do you feel about praying in worship?

I am used to the Roman Catholic and Anglican Catholic use of the same prayers. When I became United, I found it odd that the prayers were so different from week to week. Personally, I love the use of prayers if they are well intentioned. I found it odd that even within the United Churches I have served, many prayers are used in some, others are fewer in number.

·  What are your areas of strength and weakness?

I love writing prayers and my weakness would be integrating the text of the early church.

·  What are your growing edges?

I am taking a class to learn the old testament and I am learning more how to integrate scripture into prayer.

·  How do you feel about praying extemporaneously?

If I know it is coming, I love it. One service sprung prayers on me along with 8 hymns.

When asked to pray with the choir or grace before lunch, I love to pray “off the cuff”.

·  How do you feel about using other people’s prayers?

Frankly, I simply write my own. I find going through the search process and referencing them in the bulletin takes away from my input.
