Case Study 3: Lawrence Park United Church

The hybrid worship setup for Lawrence Park United Church is the most intricate of the three case studies that we are exploring. They chose to prioritize not only the camera and sound quality for the Zoom broadcast, but also the experience of worship online by making it interactive using the Zoom chat live and OBS features.

Pros and Cons

Lawrence Park United Church has a lot of fancy features to make their hybrid worship run smoothly. They installed remote control PTZ cameras that give them full control over the camera angles. They also have OBS which makes their system easy to manage during the service once it's setup. They also use separate mics for each part of their sound system that feed into the mixing board, including the choir, piano, and organ. This makes sure the sound is good on Zoom by not picking up the room's sound.

Of course, these fancy features mean this is a very expensive livestream setup. It requires lots of people to operate during your hybrid worship, as well as during the initial setup. A system this complex could also be hard to manage if you're not so tech savvy.

Hopefully, you can use these three case studies as inspiration for what you want your church's hybrid worship setup to look like based on your goals and budget. Remember, setting up your hybrid worship is a process and not something that happens overnight!
