LIFT

Have you wanted to learn more about your faith, how to study the Bible, and/or the Anglican or Lutheran faith traditions? Maybe you would like to learn how to prepare and deliver a sermon as a layperson in your church. These courses are designed for you.

  • Have you wanted to learn more about your faith,
  • Have you wanted to learn how to study the Bible independently?
  • Are you interested in learning about the Anglican or Lutheran faith traditions?
  • Would you like to learn how to prepare and deliver a sermon as a layperson in your church?
Leading in Faith Today (LIFT) courses are designed for someone like you.

There are multiple streams that you can complete within the LIFT curriculum. The first one available is the
Preaching Stream, where you will learn background knowledge of the Old and New Testaments, reflect on core aspects of Theology, and learn to interpret Scripture. The stream culminates with two preaching courses on the development and delivery of sermons where you will prepare and deliver a sermon.

You have the option of completing the Pathway to Preaching Certificate course where your course material will be reviewed by the faculty of Lutheran Theological Seminary, and, if satisfactory, a certificate will be awarded to you. You can present this certificate to your church or ministry as evidence of your completed course work which may grant you the opportunity to preach or participate more actively in other church roles. There is no extra work involved!

Further streams are under development! We will be rolling out additional LIFT streams including the Ministry Stream, Foundations of Christianity, Anglican Stream, and Lutheran Stream.
