It’s the most wonderful time of the
year. Advent is the season of wonder, of magic, of childlike longing. It
is a time of dragons and unicorns, even if our iconography doesn’t
reflect it. Advent ought to be characterized by unbounded excitement:
He’s here! He’s arrived! It’s finally time! We should rush to the Lord's
feet, perhaps probing his pockets to see what he has brought us from
his travels.
These 28 reflections or meditations
underscore some key threads in the Christmas tapestry. In them, the
beloved songs that are with us everywhere we go during the holidays (in
our cars, at work, in stores, at church, at home) become the occasions
for deep theological reflection. In them, "O Come, O Come Immanuel"
reveals the dimensions of human longing, while "Away in a Manger"
celebrates the great paradoxes that are best approached through the
simple faith of a child.
The reflections are arranged into 28
audio files, most less than 10 minutes long, that you can listen to on
the go or while at rest.
So come along for a journey like no
other: through the soundtrack of Advent. Together we will retread the
steps of Christ, from the moment he comes down to earth to the moment he
ascends in glory, and onward, to his continued presence among us today,
arms extended, pleading for sinners.
Let every heart prepare him room!
