This curriculum will explore the ways in which love is expressed in the Bible with Jesus at the centre. In Ancient Greek, there were many words that could be used to describe love, depending on the context. While there are many words for love, this curriculum will explore four types of love: Storge, Eros, Philia, and Agape. The word Storge refers to familial love, a love that one has for their caregivers (parents, grandparents, siblings, chosen family, etc.). The word Eros refers to physical love, a love that is often shared between partners. The word Philia refers to platonic love, the love between friends. Finally, our last word for love is Agape which refers to God’s love. Agape is an unconditional love that God has for everyone.
With the love stories focusing on Jesus, this curriculum will explore these types of love and the ways in which Jesus demonstrated love to his disciples, his followers, and everyone else that Jesus encountered.
We encourage you to put together a lesson that works best with your group's needs (ages, energy levels, one room/multi room, etc.) Reach out if you have any questions or need any guidance.
