This Advent unit is based on the well-loved hymn, “Hope is a Star” (Voices United #7). Each verse introduces one of the four Advent themes of hope, peace, joy, and love. We then add two bonus verses for Christmas Eve or day and Epiphany. Each week we will learn more about the mystery of the Advent stories, and how we can celebrate and see the themes of Advent in our lives all through the lens of the Jesse tree tradition. “There shall come forth a shoot from the stump of Jesse, and a branch shall grow out of his roots. “ (Isaiah 11:1)
