Well, I find myself in what I believe is a unique situation.
I moved to Moose Jaw only two years ago. At that time, there was one affirming church for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community here, but it has since closed. I have walked with that congregation as they lost their church, and I have witnessed the pain that loss has carried.
Out here on the prairies, life is already hard for this community. I believe my ministry must carry a message of love, hope, and healing. People need to know that joy and belonging are possible again and it belongs to them also.
Most of all, they need to be reminded that they are accepted as Gods beloved creation. Too often, voices around them insist they are sinners. My call is to make sure they also hear the truth, that they are worthy, cherished, and whole in Gods sight.
To add, while I am not as familiar with this side, I recognize that many immigrants are coming into Moose Jaw. That brings a whole new set of needs and challenges, and I will strive to listen, to learn, and to walk alongside them as well.
