Course Overview
This 2.5-hour refresher is for those who have completed the United Church Introductory course. Please note: this content is designed for ministers who are retired or planning retirement and is not applicable for lay persons.
What You’ll Learn
We’ll revisit personal and professional boundaries and explore how they shape ministry during retirement. Through case studies, you’ll gain insight into:
- Navigating the transition from active ministry to retirement with grace.
- Understanding how your relationship with the denomination changes.
- The guidelines and “rules” that support healthy, respectful engagement after retirement.
Financial planning is not covered in this course; for that, we recommend the Pension Information Seminar. By the end, you’ll leave with practical strategies and clarity on maintaining boundaries and fostering positive relationships as you enter this new stage of life.
Cost
The tuition fee for this course is $29.99. If you are a lay person or a Licensed Lay Worship Leader, please pay this amount. In
some Provinces, employers may not charge employees for mandatory
educational programs. Accordingly, if you are Ministry Personnel, you're
welcome to adjust the fee to $0 when you check out, if you choose to.
If you decide to contribute towards the cost of this program regardless,
please accept our thanks!
Completion of Course
Upon completion of your course, you will have the opportunity to print out your completion certificate and provide it to the person in your Judicatory to whom your attendance should be reported.
Waiting List
All of these courses are offered 3-4 times a
year. If the program you'd like to take is showing dates in the past,
you can still click through to the course description. From here,
you'll get the option to go onto a waiting list. We'll notify all those
